Custom A/V Refit – Brazilian Built 97FT Motor Yac […]

Custom A/V Refit – Brazilian Built 97FT Motor Yacht

Ever wished your Audio/Visual unit and cords were concealed and neatly tucked away? This client did and asked us to find an unused space on the yacht that could be opened up and converted into an AV cabinet.

They had recently purchased a new system and wanted a central space to house it in that was pleasing on the eye. We decided on using the back side of the fly bridge stairs.
Using rock maple laminate we crafted the curved doors and inside frame, then we installed the A/V rack. To conceal the unsightly backdrop we fabricated and upholstered black mesh panelling. This is a great example of utilising hidden spaces for storage and functionality.

Just think what you could do on your boat…

Wer have experience in installing a range of A/V systems. Whether it be wiring an entire new sound system or even a wall mounted TV, we can handcraft a unique solution just for you. View the gallery below to see more.

Bridge Refit – 52 Metre/170 FT Amels

O’Neill Shipwrights was set the challenge of modernising and updating the overall look and feel of the bridge. The original bridge had carpet throughout and timber dash/display panels. After some initial discussions and planning we set about by removing the carpet and fitted vinyl plank laminate flooring which captures the beauty of real wood and are durable and hard wearing.

We then hand crafted the carbon fibre dash panel and table. This is a technical process starting with constructing the dash template and then hand laminating the carbon fibre onto the panels finishing it with a highly polished gloss finish. The high gloss finish complemented the leather features in the bridge which successfully resulted in a contemporary yet functional space.

The challenge with this project was to install a large […]

The challenge with this project was to install a large tender on board without losing valuable deck space. Along with a naval architect we put together a solution to increase the structural integrity of the aft brow and house a 1000LBS telescopic yacht crane. This allowed his newly purchased rigid inflatable to be lifted from the water and be stowed on a custom stainless cradle above the aft cockpit. Carbon fibre and epoxy resin laminate were used to gain strength to hold both the crane and tender. Take a look through the pictures to see the creative possibilities available.

Hull Extensions – Brava Cat 45 The owner of this […]

Hull Extensions – Brava Cat 45

The owner of this catamaran was fortunate enough to have a list of aftermarket options added to his boat that included: water makers, hot water systems and a rigid inflatable tender and deck crane.

The main reason these optional extras were added was to allow the owner to become more self-sufficient as he embarked on the adventure of travelling around Australia. In theory it was a great idea although with these additions comes added weight that ultimately would affect how she sat in the water.

Along with a naval architect we concluded that to improve her plimsoll line and better her performance we needed to add, approximately, 1 cubic meter of buoyancy to each her hulls. This would result in lifting her stern up out of the water by 4 inches.

After careful planning we finished the additions which you can see below. This not only changed her trim but made her perform better at speed and increased her fuel efficiency and range. Another happy client and another challenging project we were proud of completing.

The Crystal Lady was a dream come true for the boys at O’Neill Shipwrights. A chance to carefully craft a work of art. The challenge was the boat was in Queensland while we were in Sydney.

After measuring up all we needed and creating templates we then went back down to Sydney to hand-pick all the timber for the job. We used all of our experience and expertise to create a custom pattern which included beautifully sweeping curves. This helped us get the most out of the deck space and really make it an experience to walk on.

This classic launch was a full restoration both inside and out. For the inside we restored from floor to ceiling including custom made fittings and furniture. Outside we begun with new panelling finished in a XX style and finished her off with a completely new customised teak deck.
